I have a late 2012 (quad core i7, 16gb) mac mini with a 1tb hdd and have found it quite slow. I am trying to justify spending the $$$ for the ssd for a 5 year old system (which may only get another 2 years of os updates) vs waiting for a possible 2018 mac mini. When all is said and done, you are able to have a 2tb hdd and a 1tb ssd.
